Protech's Piramid XL2 Delivers Superior Performance Without The False Alarms

Outdoor motion sensors make up an essential component in comprehensive security platforms. They’re great when they function optimally: an intruder enters the perimeter and activates the motion detector’s sensors, whereby security personnel are alerted to the presence of the trespasser and can move to intercept them.

Unfortunately, motion detectors are prone to being activated by a myriad of decidedly non-threatening elements – everything from cats, raccoons and low-flying birds, to wind-driven leaves and debris. These false alarms draw personnel away from their posts when they’re forced to verify whether or not an intruder is indeed present. Eventually security personnel will start to assume that all activations are false alarms and will ignore them entirely.

Enter Protech’s Piramid XL2 Outdoor Motion Sensor. Engineered specifically for outdoor applications, the Piramid XL2 utilizes a host of innovative sensor technologies to eradicate false activations.

Chief among these is the Stereo Doppler Microwave detector: two receiving channels that have the ability to eliminate vibration and periodically moving objects – meaning the unit has the ability to ignore randomly-moving objects as sources of false alarms. The XL2 combines this feature with a Dual Element Infrared Detector, which ignores normal temperature variations but is very responsive to rapid infrared changes created by a human intruder. The XL2 combines these sensors in an “And Gated” configuration: they must activate simultaneously to create an overall sensor alarm. Add to this the unit’s Enhanced Bird/Immunity Control that adjusts the sensors’ immunity to birds and small animals, and the result is a motion sensor with unparalleled performance that is virtually free of false alarms.

Of course, this amount of technology requires a sturdy casing for superior protection, and on that front the Piramid XL2 does not disappoint. The rugged, weatherproof housing shields the unit from RFI and EMI distortion, while the weather shroud hood channels rain away from the sensor’s face and provides maximum protection from ice, snow, wind and sun loading.

Protech’s Piramid XL2 is the ideal motion sensor for outdoor security in military, government and commercial applications, particularly when there is a need to secure high-value assets. Contact your Will Electronics Account Manager today, and put the Piramid XL2 to work for you.
